Weee, I won Chris’s 2004 weblog awards! Ph34r my design-foo! I would like to thank Rikke, and her ever-lasting patience with me and this damned blog :)
Great stuff, thank you everyone! Though it feels awkward coming out on top of all these great bloggers and their sites. Might I suggest a new, broader scoped award some time in spring? Where we really get the word out to everyone we can, line up all the coolest sites out there and see what’s what. I am honored and happy that Freya has been met with such a warm welcome. But I must admit to feeling unworthy :)
Regardless, bring on the design-foo belt!
Oh the belt is going to be in the mail as soon as they can get it to me, fear not!
And again I think you are more than worthy of the title, if for nothing else that boss illustration!
As for the next competition I am all for it, and would love to team up with you if you would like. We shall discuss this more in the year to come… yessss.
Congrats Michael! I really like Freya and the efforts you make to improve the WordPress-community. Your site is not like any other site, and despite that you were in a great company you have my vote. You combine design with great functions that makes it a pleasure to browse your site, and most of all you inspire!
Regards Johan.
Congratulation.
Really nice design, simple and clear at the same time with a vintage touch.
I love it.
Congrats Michael.
Congratulations. Been lurking. I’ve been an internet junkie for a while, but never addicted to a website. Well deserved :)
Well deserved.
Welcome to the ‘A’ list, and for breaking into the Technorati Top 100 (no. 48 as I write this).
Congratulations Michael for all you’ve done for the wordpress community (and the other blogs systems).
Congratulations. You deserve it.
Impresive..
Good work Michael. It’s cool when peons (such as myself) get a chance to vote on awards like this.. it just “feels” better when those who have been able to learn, grow & adapt (using templates like Kubrick to learn from), as well as gain design idea’s from those who are more interested in helping others & giving back to the community, rather than shameless site-one-upmanship, if such a phrase exists :)
Now, we expect a candid shot (photo) of you adorned with the belt, of course..
You won because people think you deserved it. Your simplified design is easier to navigate, your articles are relatable, what else is there to look for in a blog? Maybe that’s why you won. Awsome man, Awsome.
Michael, did you do this drawing?
Yeah congrats man and sorry for the support email earlier.. I didn’t read your “no-support” notice in your contact page. Well keep it up and show us the belt when you get it! :-P
Haha! Well deserved a victory it is too. Congratulations, Michael.
Isaack, yes that is indeed a drawing of mine. I did it about 2 years ago or so.
Seriocomic, hah! That’s wicked cool, I would never have guessed myself to be anywhere near the top 100!
Michael your site is well thought out and put together. All the small details are what make this site kick so much ass. I can’t help but grin as I watch this post’s preview appear below real time with no doubt some java wizardry. One thing that alludes me is you say you don’t understand php and the sort so then where do you get all these wicked cool add-ons?
BTW your site deserved to win and you should be very proud!
I don’t so much ‘understand’ PHP, as I sort of coax it into doing something along the lines of what I need :)
Congratulations Michael! Well-deserved I believe as well.
Your drawing skills are far beyond my PHP skills. I wish I had some of that in me. All I can do is produce heaps of code. I pH34r your drawing foo :D
Want font do you use on your design for your actual blog psots. And I like what you’ve done with the website, definatly a website for me to look up too =P. http://chadian22.no-ip.com/ is about all I’ve got accomplished for PHP in a year and a half. But now im redoing the entire thing, going to put better CSS in, better HTML formatting, and some RSS/Atom. Keep up the good work. FIREFOX R0×0rz
