What’s a geek to do, given geek’s tools? That’s right, pay homage. I’ve got a few more places I want to throw up here as well, just for the heck of it.

I now totally understand the geek experience, sensei. Had one just today.
Hehe I did it too the very first day it was announced. My first destination was Cup)rtino’s Infinite Loop ;)
i tried to look up the Hollywood sign, which is somewhere here, but I can’t seem to find the exact location of it. Is it in the park in the top left corner?
i want to john travolta’s place. with his plane-dock and everything… however, i can’t find his address in my book… :(
Nice.
Geek. :)
The first places I looked up was places I’ve lived in the US. It wasn’t until Matt started the whole memory map craze, however, that I thought about showing people where I’ve been.
Other places I looked were famous climbing spots in California and Texas, but I guess I’m just that sort of geek.
It’s here (it’s in the middle, very visible if you zoom in).
Nice little challenge, solved with the help of google and the pictures on the Hollywood Sign
What about a piece of Alcatraz or of the Golden Gate Bridge.
SF is definitively a nice city…
There’s also the Statue of Liberty. Helps if you look for Ellis Island then search around in the water between Jersey and NY. Also, if you haven’t looked yet, Washington D.C. is the saddest as all the building are either blocked over or Pixellated. The Capitol Building looks like a gian ten block pixellation but the Washington Monument throws a nice shadow.
If you just pop search on Washington DC and zoom all the way in it focuses on the Mile Marker 0 in front of the White House.
Also, for the bridge people, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in Virginia.
Another for the bridge people: the Leonard P Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge in Boston. One thing though. On the image it looks under construction, but I thought they had pretty much finished up the big dig
Famous Bridges from the movies:
The bridge Charlie Sheen’s character jumped off of in Navy SEALS
And, just to round it out, The golf course from the movie.
Chris, you just made my day :D
Welcome, as it happens I live about 2 miles from both spots. Sadly I can’t think of any other cool stuff around here with the exception of all the military bases.
Anybody locate the Gates bunker?
This guy has
Thanks Jonas! :D
Lmao. This is funny.
According to GoogleMapsBeta, it will only take me 16.5 hours to drive to my LAN party!
Screw that, I’m flyin, foo!
Spent last weekend at the Las Vegas Hilton, though I wish it was the The Bellagio, since they have such nice Video slots. The Hilton did have fantastic PENNY SLOTS, though!
If you’re not already aware of WorldWind, it does what Google Maps does, and more! Check it out.
