Matt let the WP-Hackers mailing list know that WordPress 2.0 will be released:
Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the phase of the moon.
John Sinteur was kind enough to let us know that on wednesday this is how the moon will look, and on thursday, this is what we’ll get. Get your voodoo on and let us know what you think will happen.
Now, this means we’ll be rolling K2 over to 2.0-only this week. Feel free to stay with r125, which will be the last version for WordPress 1.5, but know that we won’t be updating it anymore. If you’re interested in being the guy or gal who keeps a 1.5 version up-to-date, then let us know, otherwise it’ll stay the way it is.
Update: Core support people have requested a delay until after Christmas in order to prepare upgrade documentation and enjoy the holidays a bit before the release. This, combined with the fact I haven’t got the changes to wordpress.org ready, is pretty compelling, so the release is currently planned for the 26th of December.
Hooray! This is the best insert holiday name here ever! :)
All I can say to this matter is, I love christmas.
So soon, I havn’t finished putting my hacked version of K2 back together yet…
OOOOH can’t wait I love K2 just made a style with it and may make it public just don’t know yet will wait till the new verisons of wp and k2 t0 see if there’s any diffrence!
This is a great news …
Any news on the affect this will have on the plugins (like ELA, Latest Comments etc)?
Judging by the moon – wednesday.
Kyle: Matt has posted a list up of all the known working and non-working plugins on the Wordpress Codex site. http://codex.wordpress.org/User:Matt/2.0_Plugin_Compatibility It looks like most plugins will continue to work…
I was just wondering something. Since Michael is a big fan of wikipedia (I am too), would anyone be interested in a wordpress plugin that adds tooltips from Wikipedia to posts. If you use Trillian, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
I just don’t know where to even start. I can’t seem to find any reference on Wikipedia concerning their web services, or if they even offer any.
Is anyone even interested in an idea like this?
You’d probably be better off asking on the hackers list or on the support forums; they all get considerably more traffic than this entry.
Thanks Michael.
Note that the version of k2 over here isn’t compatible with WordPress 2.0.
I love the holiday season! Hooray for WP-presents!
Owen: Yeah dude, that’s what this post is partly about…
I’ve created a demo for the release canidate that people can chack out here.

I’m thinking Thursday people. Why?
The upgrade is a pain in the butt right now. I am upgrading my site to the latest RC and it took me over an hour to get the databases sorted out and such.
There is a very active topic going on on the wordpress forums that I suggest you check out. I’ve been pretty active on it and it is quite helpful:

The WP 2.0 release .
I’ll update as soon as K2 is updated and ready for 2.0 Until then, I’ll stay with Strayhorn. Thanks for the heads up Michael.
And will the WP search be better in v2? Will it finally search pages I wonder? Any insider info as I know you’re as frustrated with it as I am.
Michael. I’ve installed 2.0 and so far k2 is fine, with one minor code change for some user error in posts. (I got the change from WP support)
I have one embarassing question about the css for k2. I can’t find the setting for the font color of the comments link next to the post. Would you be so kind as to direct me?
the blog is Geognosy http://glitteringstew.com/poetry. People don’t see the comment link, so I had to put a note in the sidebar.
Sincerely,
David
