Based largely on what I read in DroidMaker (awesome book!), I just created an EditDroid entry on Wikipedia (quite astonished there wasn’t one there already!)

Take a look at the “making of” documentary on the Ghost in the Shell DVD, which came out before Peacemaker. I don’t think it specifically says EditDroid, but it goes on about digital editing “on an avid.” (Back then, Avid products were called avids as well by the editors.)
Thanks for the second book recommendation. Now I have some good reading material and I’m not even a reader. Ha.
Great idea and wiki entry, but wouldn’t “problems” go with “disadvantages”?
Avid != EditDroid, Michael.
Let me clarify: just because Avid bought the EditDroid software doesn’t mean that a movie cut on Avid was cut on EditDroid. I could be wrong, but I really doubt that The Peacemaker was cut on some ancient (even by 1997 standards) EditDroid system.
I know the difference between Avid and EditDroid Sean. With regards to The Peacemaker, I do not recall the details, but maybe if I get the time I’ll go back and check up on it. It’s found somewhere in DroidMaker anyway.
I wrote the article almost two months ago, so I don’t remember much of the specifics to be honest. But it being on Wikipedia, anyone can feel free to do some fact-checking and correct or add to it in any way they see fit.
Sorry, not trying to come across as standoffish.
It’s still a cool article.
I’m arriving late here… but what are you guys talking about? I don’t think i mention Peacemaker in Droidmaker (The book largely winds down in the late 80s or early 90s…) although i haven’t picked it up in half a year! The Avid was getting a ton of traction in 1997 (after cutting English Patient and winning oscars…) and i’ll bet it cut Peacemaker, although i can’t recall for sure. i’d be exceptionally surprised if someone cut that on a Droid. Something about that movie sticks in my head, but for the moment i can’t recall what.
i’m pleased you’re enjoying the book, however. Lots of good stuff in there.
cheers

Hey Rubin, and again, thanks for an excellent books. I truly thoroughly enjoyed it.
I wonder about Peacemaker then… Where can I have picked up that little nugget of potentially untruthfulness? Well luckily it seems the Wikipedia article has already been updated (and buffed up even).
That reminds me, if you have any copyright-free images of the EditDroid, I’d love to stick one of those up on the article.
Yea, i’ll check into the Peacemaker thing too… there is something in my memory banks, but i can’t put my finger on it. Alas, it was I who “buffed” up the Wikipedia. Couple little things I felt compelled to tweak last night. I wouldn’t have done it if you hadn’t gotten it most of the way there…
Generally speaking there are not copyright free images of the Droid. The photos in the book, even the ones i took myself, still needed to be cleared by legal negotiations with Lucasfilm. They were decent about it, but nothing is really “free.”
Of course, that’s why I put all that stuff in the book! Best collection of historical images you’ll find on those topics!!!! cheers

Well worth the time I might add. A friend and I had a great time just flipping through it, getting inspired for greatness :D
