Do you remember Space Hulk? I want to buy it, and it is nowhere to be found. It seems people on eBay can’t be bothered with mailing things out of their own respective countries, none of which happen to be Denmark…
I am more specifically looking for the first edition if possible.

I don’t remember it, but I’d be more than willing to facilitate the purchase for you… (provided all shipping charges and duties are taken care of ) :)
Husk der er forskel på 2ed space hulk som du viser et billede af og 1ed space hulk som du spillede som barn med mig og andre.
Ah yes, as Alsted so rightly points out, I am looking for the first edition. The second edition was IIRC neutered.
Let me see what I can rustle up for you with my contacts.
edit: Nevermind…
Is this the same as Space Quest? Because it looks a lot like it (same characters and also from Games Workshop anyway).
Still have Space Quest and Hero Quest laying around at my parents’ place, but they’re in Dutch so I doubt they’ll be useful to anyone.
Wow, old school! Warhammer 40k ftw.
Have you checked out the new stuff on the Games Workshop site? It’s pretty incredible. If only I had the time to 40-year-old-virgin it out of control.
The Warhammer 40k computer games fall short too. Disappointing with such vast history and art behind it.
Sven, no Space Crusade (which is what you call Space Quest, a name it got in some parts of Europe due to the popularity of Hero Quest… AFAIK) was a different game. It had a set board and several types of creatures. It was very similar in thought to Space Hulk, but IMHO Space Hulk is by far the superior game.
Travis, yeah I wish I had the time and patience to collect and play WH40K again. Alas.
And yeah, I so wish GW would get their act together and do a kickass game. They have a fan-fuckin-tastic universe at their disposal.
Yeah, Space Hulk was the original version made by GW. They had a tie-in with MB games in the late 80’s early 90’s which saw HeroQuest and Space Quest/Crusade released which were simplified, mass market appeal versions of Space Hulk and …. damn forgot the name of the fantasy game.
Space Hulk 1st ed really rocked the Llama’s ass (well we’re getting all nostalgic here). 2nd ed was totally neutered. I got the boxed set for the updated minatures, but never used the rules.
HeroQuest was the game that got me into GW stuff. From there I got Space Crusade, and then Space Hulk. From Space Hulk to “Space Marine” which was the epic scale system, and from there to both WHF and WH40K. And then Bloodbowl which is still my favourite game – 1st ed of course, 2nd ed was again dumbed down :(.
Space Marine (or Warhammer 40.000 Epic IIRC) was, and probably still is, my favorite of their games (I played Eldar mostly). It was also the game that was cheapest to collect since the bulk of your armies could be bought in plastic sprues rather than the WH40K packages-of-4-miniatures for rules that required a minimum of 5 per squad.
It was around the time they pulled that stunt that it really started landsliding into money-grubbin’-ness.
I have an abandoned SH box at my parents place, but it’s not mint (if that’s an issue) – I’ll check if it’s 1ed. if so, I’ll send it to you…

I have a Space Crusade box (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/1568). I realise it isn’t what you are after, but if you are interested in that also, it is up for grabs!
It was only played a few times and the miniatures are unpainted. I was thinking of putting it on ebay at some point.
Gunnar, I’d definitely be interested in that. Mint is not an issue, as long as the pieces needed to play are there (for the most part anyway).
Tomasz, I might be up for your Space Crusade; how much do you want for it?
Fantastic game. Though I think 2nd edition was not really that different (certainly not ‘totally neutered’) – the artwork and components are far superior, and as far as I can remember (I still have some of the components from 1st ed and a full copy of 2nd ed) the only really significant change was that they took out the time limit on the Space Marine turn (which is easily put back in). Oh, and they took out a lot of the extraneous detail for different types of marine troops, psionics etc that made it more like a miniatures game than a fast and fun boardgame with miniatures (and that you never used anyway).
Correct me if I’m wrong, it’s been a long while since I played 1st ed …
Games like Space Hulk are why I’ve held on to my collection of old Games Workshop ‘big box’ games – that was definitely the ‘Golden Age’ of GW.
BTW, I have a rules summary for 2nd ed Space Hulk on my site at http://www.headlesshollow.com/freebies_games.html
Oh my, how I remember the nights at the table with Space Hulk!
We used to play on a monthly basis where we had Vodka&Violence nights. We gave each figure on our squad of space marines a character and personality (being supernerds) and then act them out. That, and a house rule of downing a shot of vodka per kill made for tremendous fun, and even greater hang-overs.
The second edtion was bend compared to first edition. The command point system was changed s.t. one could not interrupt your opponents turn. In fact GW just turned into to a kiddie game, whereas first edition had an interesting tactical aspect.
Furthermore, if memory servers my right, flamers was nerfed as well. Finally no expansions sort of makes the game more boring to me.
Michael, try to see if you can pick up DOOM the boardgame it is quite fun, and has similar game constructs. It is not as cheesy as you would think.
Cheers
I considered the Doom game actually, but figured it was lame. I’ll check it out.

Doom is excellent.
Found a great comparison of the 2 editions:

You can also download both rule sets from Boardgamegeek:

I never seen this game in my life! I am so sure that I know someone who would love to have it for themselve (even though they would probably not play it LOL)
