Holy smokes, $20 Million for the production of a game… That’s unbelievable! There is no way i would of come close to that figure if i had to guess. Yes production costs are high, but with mass packaging and the low price of CD’s & DVD’s i though once a working copy was made the rest was smooth sailing with turning them out in the 1,000’s.
But it makes sense, the amount of talent and man hours involved in the production and bug testing is very extensive.
One other thing that surprised me was:
“Because of those increased risks, many game publishers aren’t rushing to create titles for the new game consoles.”
I would of assumed that being first on the block when there were limited game options would be a huge bonus resulting in a stream of sales.
Interesting write up, these game pirates should read that story.
