  Very likely the same person who came up with:

  - Keyboard error – press F1 to continue (because we all have special F1 keys) – If you can read this, windows has successfully installed your printer (on a printed test-page, no less)

  .. and so on. Just like warning messages, even the obscure ones, are evidently because the event actually happened (like keeping knives out of children, for example).

  There is a moron born every minute, never forget that.

  I think, it’s a random marketing guy picking random pieces of sentences to fill the empty space on an installation dialog. Maybe he wants to force some feedback with it, because actually nobody reads this stuff – we all know it’s nonsense. ;-)

  Agreed, it’s trash, but at least Sun has realised that Java needs marketing. Remember back when it had programmer art, Swing GUIs? Java is now only mildly awful (before it was completely awful)

  “No keyboard detected – press a key to continue”.

  Did you know that if you had a serial port console connected, and hence it made
  sense to continue, you actually could press a key to continue?

  The error is not as non-sensical as it first appears.
