Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner

Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner

I don’t care what anyone says, Dirty Dancing is one great flick.

Viacom is for teh s0xx0rz

Alright, see if you can follow this. You upload a clip to YouTube. VH1, owned by Viacom, has a show, where they, without asking for permission, show said clip. You record that show, and upload it to YouTube, with commentary. Viacom slams YouTube with a cease and desist letter.

Huh?

The Nokia iPhone

It’s not a trick, it’s not a fake. It’s the Nokia iPhone.

nokia-iphone

I don’t think I have the language to describe how flabbergasted I am. How can I possibly as a conscientious consumer, ever again consider Nokia as a provider of a future phone? How can these people look themselves in the mirror in the morning?

This is Sparta!

The Monster Squad DVD. I Dig It Man!

The Monster Squad

I tried garlic’ing Rikke after she saturday told me she had seen Monster Squad on DVD while we were in our local movie store, but that she had neglected to tell me, as I was busy talking to someone; when, as everyone knows, the right course of action would have been to stab said person right in the heart with a wooden stake, with a firm hand, over to the Monster Squad DVD and then up to the counter to pay for it (or to put dynamite down the pants of the counter-guy, depending on whether you felt like being a big spender or not…).

Yes; Monster Squad, from back when teen-movies had heart and soul, BMX’s, animatronics and a running time of 82 minutes.

From the Fires of the Metal Wars…

New Kane & Lynch Trailer

One of the reasons for lack of prolificisity (come on!) on this here writing site of mine, is of course the impending release of the game I have been working on for a couple of years; it’ll be out there soon, for you to peruse and judge. And I feel pretty good about it, to be honest. Proud even.

Well, there’s a new trailer out; enjoy.

I Still Hate ‘Snaps’ on WordPress.com

Did I mention that I hate ‘Snap Shots’ on WordPress.com? Oh yeah, I did. And coming across it just now only assures me that my decision to pull back from the whole WordPress community was the right thing to do; because quite frankly, it isn’t showing signs of improvement. So much wasted potential.

A little plug for Kampus.nu, a portal and social network for students in Denmark I’ve done some minor consulting work for on the side.

Review: The Bourne Ultimatum

Jason Bourne

Beware: This entry contains spoilers of the movie, and the comments section contains spoilers for the books. Consider yourself warned.

Forgive me, if I have a hard time putting sentences together in a coherent manner, but my brain is being actively jammed by horrid cover-bands and carbon-copy ‘trendy’ DJ’s with their ‘eclectic’ (read: carbon-copy) reggae collections currently devouring most of the peace and sanctity in inner Copenhagen, on this grey and otherwise Bioshock-worthy Caturday.

Now it might be because I honestly thought The Bourne Identity would suck big time when I first saw it, that I have grown to love it as much as I do. Because against all odds, it didn’t suck; rather it was a genuinely fresh action romp, and Matt Damon, as unlikely an action hero as he is, was perfect in the role as the lost-child-come-terminator, Jason Bourne.

On That New Kubrick DVD Set

It’s looking more and more as if Warner Brothers have finally gotten their act together. First they switched from those horrible cardboard DVD covers, well after every other studio in the world. Then they finally got their ass in gear and put together the new Blade Runner set; and even if it does look awesome, it was something which should have been done years ago. It was probably held back by some moneygrubbin’ fucktard if I’m not mistaken; which I probably am.

Anyway, now, they’re putting out a new Kubrick DVD box set! Oh mercy!

Stand Back! The Mighty Pop-Culture Clairvoyant!

So I was sitting on the john this morning; as I do (you can write that down in your Michael Heilemann fan book; essential piece of information for that episode of Jeopardy I forsee you taking part in). Suddenly, out of nowhere, ‘A Semi-Charmed Kind of Life’ by Third Eye Blind (what kind of a name is that anyway?), popped into my head. Not a bad song to start the day off with, I thought. Weird though, because I couldn’t recall having heard it recently.

Help Me Plan My Vacation to Maine & New York

Rikke and I are planning a trip to the Maine and New York in the end of October. If you’ve got some valuable input on where to stay, what to see and what sites to go to for more info, I’d very much like to hear from you. Currently we’re looking at Bar Harbor in Maine. Neither of us have a drivers license, and so we’re stuck with our feet and public transportation, which is of course a major part of our considerations.

PS: What sites are good for booking air travel inside the US?

MPAA Forgets to Divulge Bogus Approximation Algorithm

According to the most recent numbers by the Motion Picture Association of America, movie pirating has cost the industry $18.2 billion worldwide. An association spokeswoman said figures for 2006 are expected soon. #

All this of course, according to the following non-nonsensical approximation algorithm: Random Number + Random Number / Smaller Random Number * Number of people in the world.

All of which points to the necessity of having to pull a 19-year-old to court over 20 seconds of handheld pocket camera bullshit. A gesture, which will set off a chain reaction of further piracy and disdain for the MPAA and the studios it ‘protects’.

Great work! :D

Bad Copywriter. Bad!

Throwing Projectiles...

Judging from the still intact casing, I’ll wager the guess that after the US lost some 190.000 weapons, they simply resorted to throwing their ammunition at the hapless Iraqis…

Gigantic Girth

Know, O prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars … Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet.

Free Bioshock Art Book

though spoiler-ridden, and thus not for those of you who want a purely virginic (so a word!) experience, there’s a 67-page art book for Bioshock available for free. I played the demo yesterday evening, and it looked very promising indeed. I wasn’t so sure for a while, but I think I’ll pick it up nonetheless.

Halo 3. We Can Do Better.

“We did $125 million last time,” said Microsoft director of creative marketing Chris Di Cesare, who oversaw much of the second installment’s launch. “We’re confident we can do better.” #

Arrogant much?

The Halo-craze is… well, crazy. Have you seen all the merchandise out there already? I mean, a Halo 3 Zune? Who the fuck wants that (a Zune that is)? And just how riled up can a fanbase get, over something as ‘meh’, as the showing of the Halo 3 flamethrower?

Microsoft is really pushing Halo 3 down our throats, to such an extent, I actually feel dirty for wanting to play it. After all, I loved the first one and was so hyped for the second one, only to be severely burnt by what was — and Bungie admitted this openly in Edge — an unfinished and very lacking game. Talk about wasted potential.

So the question is, is Microsoft ready to acknowledge that mistake? I’m betting that they are. Otherwise they would most likely face an exodus of Bungie employees (they might already have, I don’t know). And the ‘Halo 3 will be released on the day the PS3 is release’ sort of went the way of the dodo, all of which is pointing towards a lesson learned.

There’s certainly a community for it, but still; the might of the MS franchising department makes me feel as if the predatory gaze of Microsoft eyes me, and in best road-runner-style, a stuffed wallet is superimposed over my face.

Just dirty.

On Treating Your Batteries Correctly

There’s a lot of ‘talk’ about how to treat batteries and the devices dependent on them, like the iPod. Some never charge in-between full charge and empty, citing wear and tear on the battery, and others, like me, go from dock-at-home to dock-at-work in 10 minutes or less.
