Hour-Long Documentary on James Cameron

There’s a nice one-hour documentary on James Cameron on YouTube, which reminds me; I came across this truism:

There’s nothing quite as uniquely irritating as a great franchise with only two installments. #

Well, there is one thing… Terminator 3.

  • Weeeeell … just to spite you: Terminator – The TV Series! ;)
    Oh my, what excellent television!

  • Oh thanks, good !

  • Thanks for the link, dude. That was really interesting.

You know, hearing him talk about the ideas that lead to each of his pictures, one realizes how easy it would have been for them to end up being just your typical Hollywood fluff pieces – nice visuals but no substance. Obviously it’s a major credit to his writing ability that they didn’t.

To be honest, I think he is perhaps the most underrated writer in Hollywood. The fact that he’s such a great director probably explains this.

Finally, it didn’t surprise me at all to find out that he came from such an intellectual background – you surely see that in his writing.

  • Really interesting right up until the dross about Titanic, I can appreciate it for what sheer epic that it was but nothing more; not my ‘cup of tea’. T1 and T2 are legendary but Aliens is probably up there in my top ten too. Bluntly putting it, Alien (Scott) is a horror and Aliens is an action movie but both are still at the top of their genres and more than stand tall in their own right regardless of one being a sequal. HR Giger’s imagination still amazes and intrigues me, those aliens are probably the greatest xenomorphs in any film still today. To think that Alien came out before I was born and Aliens just as I was in my first year at school is a credit to both Scott, Cameron and all involved.

Just goes to show that you still need that bit of luck as well as talent and ability. If it wasn’t for those worms eh?

Thanks for the link… I shall forward this onto my bro who will appreciate it too.
