Alright, see if you can follow this. You upload a clip to YouTube. VH1, owned by Viacom, has a show, where they, without asking for permission, show said clip. You record that show, and upload it to YouTube, with commentary. Viacom slams YouTube with a cease and desist letter.
Huh?
Treat others as you would want them to treat you.
Apparently not when you are an humongous international conglomerate.
Shame on you Viacom!
That’s why I’ve started to use other video sharing sites, YouTube has gotten too big for their bridges. You can barely post anything on there without getting a threatening email form some corporation, even when the clip is basically giving them free publicity.
I posted a commercial once which was yanked off after the company who produced the product saw it and I was told if I violated YouTube’s TOS again, my account would be deleted. A commercial!!!!! Don’t they pay big bucks to TV stations to advertise? Yet here I am giving them free exposure and I get treated like a criminal. Makes absolutely no sense.
Needless to say, I deleted my account myself, they can keep their politics, there’s enough of that in the world as it is.
Yikes, that YouTube user has the same name as me.
That aside, this is getting beyond silly and moving in to the ridiculous.
