Jackson is not directing The Hobbit, nor is he even producing it. He’s just getting an executive producer credit.
How much actual involvement he’ll have remains to be seen. The press release even mentions that actual production will be handled by New Line.

It’s semi-on. As Sean says, PJ is currently only attached as executive producer.
From what I read, tho, there’s still a chance he’ll direct.
I read he is directing on bbc entertainment news.
