Check the opening times for the Colosseum – I went about this time in the year, assumed it would be ‘summer’ opening times (because of the great weather) but it was still operating reduced hours, and we didn’t get to go in. Still an amazing place though, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it massively!
I was in Rome a couple of weeks ago. I’m not sure about teh Colosseum opening hours, whether it was reduced or not, but It wasn’t difficult to find time to get in.
The lines was very long though, up to an hour. But you can pay an extra 10 Euros end get a guided tour and skip the line. You will also get a guided tour of the Roman Forum included – you actually get a lot considering what you pay :). It was worth it just for the skipping of the line!
There are some girls walking around by the entrance asking people in line if they would like to join the tour.
Do I have anything else? Well, there is so much to see, so see it :)
Oh and BTW we went to a nice restaurant near the Trevi Fountain a couple of times. I don’t remember the name. But as far as I can see on Google Maps it was located on Via del Lavatore, on the left hand side when coming from the fountain.
It was located right by Ice Cream kiosk – oh the Ice Cream! You have to get Italian Ice Cream :)
Just kick some ass and chew bubblegum Mike :)
Watch out for pickpockets. Especially at the Colosseum and The Spanish Stairs.
Yeah, and go see The Basilica of Saint Peter. It’s overwhelming!
don’t go, there’s tones on T.V. this weekend anyway.
not jealous.
I don’t know if you’re a sucker for animals. But if you are, there’s a feral cat sanctuary a few blocks from the largely-hated “typewriter” building. Its the same place where there’s a city block left at the same level as the original Roman streets. I thought it was quite rad.
I went to St. Peter’s Square at 8:00am and it was fantastic. No crowds, not too hot and plenty of space to admire everything. Fully recommended!
