Another World ported to… Javascript?!

It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of Eric Chahi’s Another World. Nothing compared to my pal Gil however, who decided to play around with the canvas tag a bit, and in doing so ported part of Another World to pure javascript.

Yeah.

That’s pretty crazy.

I think I’ll crawl back in my hole and gawk at my die roller (“Why weren’t you a port of Another World, huh? No, no, I’m not mad; I’m disappointed”).

  • This is simply amazing. Great memories of this game and Flashback.

  • Awesomeness.

I wish the page was a bit shorter though, so scrolling wouldn’t be possible. Right now it scrolls whenever you “duck” :)

  • I relayed that to Gil.

  • Hahaha! Yeah, I wrote the FAQ right after I decided it’s time to release. I didn’t even check it afterwards. I will check if I can stop the event from actually scrolling, if not, I will just make the FAQ toggle-able :)

  • Excellent, excellent. Again: awesomeness. Any chance we’ll see the intro?

  • Made my day, end of.

  • @Adam: w00t!

@Joen: intro actually works. But it relies a lot on a rendering method that I don’t support (some alpha against existing pixels,) so it looks kinda weird when you watch it :). Regardless, it still says “Good Evening, Professor”. Best. Greeting. Ever.
