While I’m waiting for the OS X CD to finalize, let me just say that I never ‘got’ bards in D&D. I’m sure I’m missing out on some of their potential, but I just don’t get the whole running around in tights with a banjo making up songs of courage and stuff… I hope someone can tell me how wrong I am and provide me with a few inspirational examples.

I have to reinstall my PC again… Got hit by a virus due to … well my own stupidity and lack of foresight really. Seems obvious that the only encounter I’ve had with a virus for the last 4-5 years is in the 2 hours where I didn’t have Norton installed. Doh!
Anyway, I’m burning OS X now. Dunno if it’ll work or not, I try not to keep my hopes up ;) At least I have company. Larsen the cat has been lying here next to me for 12 hours straight! :)

Sorry for the slow day today, my machine went belly up just around one o’clock. I messed around with it for a little while and found out that the C partition had died for no apparent reason. While meching about with the case I got half-way electrocuted as well, dunno what the hell is up with that, but it can’t be good! (Another reason to get a plastic mac case ;)).
I installed Messenger 6 Preview today, I’m a big fan of some of the features they’ve brought in. The ability to have a portrait is really nice, and I think it’ll add a lot to conversations even if it is just a static image. Whether or not the webcam feature is properly implemented and actually works through firewalls and whatnot I don’t know. It still doesn’t go fullscreen, which in my mind if laughable. It’s the most obvious feature in the world!
But that’s the general story with Messenger, it always has some pretty cool features such as “Michael is currently writing a message…” which makes text conversations much more intuitive. But at the end of the day they lack some of the most obvious features that other IM’s have, like for instance being able to send messages to people who’re offline. They finally got the log implemented in 6.0, and about damn time too! I like the interface, it’s pretty slick and follows the MSN ‘look’, except it doesn’t feel quite as ‘family-friendly’ as MSN in general.
I’m tired of Trillian not being updated on a regular basis, it should’ve had proper webcam support by now if you ask me. I guess that’s why I haven’t bought a pro license yet
I’m 21 minutes from having the images of the 10.3 WWDC preview of OS X, I ‘just’ need to burn them onto bootable CD’s and I should be off into my OS X endeavours. But we’ll see how it goes :).
The struggle goes on. As far as I can tell it is impossible to get the Mac to boot from the OS X disc I have. Whether that’s because it’s not a bootable disc (it was toasted straight from the .img, so that shouldn’t be it), or if it’s something else that I’m missing, I don’t know.
I’m getting my hands on another image of OS X, but these things take tiiime.
Update:

So now I have OS9.2 up and running. But when I want to boot from the CD it doesn’t work, I just end up in OS9.2. Help!
Note: One cool thing in OS9 is that files currently being downloaded with IE have a small progress bar on the file icon! Really nice!
Okay, so I got a copy of OS 9.2… But of course because it’s a Danish version it won’t upgrade the English 8.5.1… DOH!
Back to the drawing board.
Update: There we go :)

Okay, so I’m seated here with my PC and the iMac next to me. I want to install OS X, and I have the CD’s I need.
Except they require MacOS 9.1 to be installed on the machine for them to work… Okay I say to myself, I’ll just get the 9.0 to 9.1 update.
Good idea, except the iMac has OS 8.5.1 on it! :( — So what do I do? Any Mac people out there? Feel free to contact me through IM or mail asap :D
