It’s dark okay? Be scared!

Why do things always bunch up in the last minute? I’ve had plenty of time since I came back to Denmark, and now I’m suddenly hard pressed for time :(.

Thing is that I’m going away tomorrow, attending Stig’s wedding on saturday and then coming back on sunday. Then tuesday I’m going away again to play some RPG’s and socialize in a summer house in Blokhus and then I come back again thursday and go away again saturday for a week.

And while I’m one of those guys who likes to have a couple of weeks between these things (hey, I have a lax relationship to my sparetime! :), I can deal with all the going here and there stuff. But now I also have to GM a sci-fi RPG of some sort on wedensday night… So that leaves me today, a couple of hours tomorrow, ditto on sunday, all of monday and that’s it… I won’t get anything done while I’m out there except for all the technical stuff. Which means I have to write a really interesting sci-fi scenario for monday night…

I have some very vague ideas, but all in all I’m kinda blank. I was going to run some D20 Star Wars and I was somewhat hyped by that. But the realistic side of me had to put the foot down and realize that creating 5 (usually one or more hook on in addition, so a couple of extra PC’s wouldn’t be a bad idea either) cool characters, a scenario in the Star Wars ‘style’ as well as some interesting NPC’s and monsters… In D20 it’s just too much work. The system is simply too complex to punch up some ‘quickies’ in 10 minutes. Unless of course you’re 100% into the system, able to remember all the feats, force skills and what not… And I’m not. I’m intrigued by the idea however, and I would love to run some high-level Star Wars in the future. Hope I can find the time.

So I think I’ll run with Silhouette, it’s blazingly fast to make characters for, everyone can understand the system in 5 minutes flat and since it’s going to be a one shot scenario a lot of the ‘nuances’ of D20 go out the window (Or in the case of Star Wars: “[…] are released with the garbage before the jump to hyperspace”).

I’m thinking it’ll be something in the vein of space meets Lovecraft meets Arthur C. Clarke. Which means something like Event Horizon or Dark Side of the Moon, just a hell of a lot better ;)

“Conjure me up a costume, and make it snazzy!”

What makes a Sith lord feel that he has to have a costume? I mean I dig it, but what’s up with the capes and gloves?!

X-Files

I started rewatching X-Files. So far I’ve seen the Pilot, Deep Throat and Squeeze again. Of these three I definetly liked Deep Throat the best, probably because it had all the elements that I always loved the most about X-Files; government conspiracies, UFO’s, Mulder being all Muldery and then of course the tie-in to the meta-storyline with Deep Throat.

I always felt that the series would be stronger if the episodes not relating directly to the main branch of the meta-storyline were cut out.

But all in all: Best show ever.

Knights of the Old Republic

It would seem that I have a tendency to steer to the dark side. It really is more seductive, I have no idea how I got to be all bad and stuff :)

But I’ve got a cool saber, so what the heck ;)

“Virgil Brigman back on the air”

No, I’m not dead.

I was on Læsø sunday to thursday last week, and held Stig’s bachelor party saturday (he’s getting married next saturday). Other than that I’ve been reading and preparing Heavy Gear, taking care of real life and playing Knights of the Old Republic.

Coming up in the next days will be a while-I’m-playing KOTOR preview/review of sorts, the follow up to the mac article, some thoughts on stuff and possibly a long article on Star Wars in general, something I’ve been wanting to do for a long while :)

I’m off

I’m off to Læsø(Small island off the coast of Jutland, Denmark) for a few days. I don’t know when I’ll be back. Behave while I’m gone.
