Unreal Tournament 2004

Unreal Tournament 2004

The Unreal Tournament demo has really reinvigorated my desire to play first person shooters. For the longest time I’ve felt that most of the stuff I’ve tried had been stagnated boring same-ol’ same-ol’, but UT2K4 looks like it’s going to seriously kick my ass.

By now it has become tradition that we take 2-4 rounds every day after lunch and sometimes a few more rounds before we go home at night. Holy mother of Yod it’s good fun. We’re all trembling with anticipation for the full release!

if its half as good as 2003, which is should be cuz its the same stuff with more…kinda, its gonna be the best game the first half of this year, in my books anyway. Im also lookin forward to black and white 2, and horizons PvP

The vehicles… Ooooh the vehicles :) They’re so cool! :D

It’s goodish. I still hate the fact that there’s no tactics in the moment. You can’t lay out suppressing fire. It’s all about you vs. the other guy. And what’s up with those lousy beam weapons. Stupid energy balls travelling about as fast as a tractor? Give me a proper projectile weapon, please! Sheesh. There, I’ve said it… :)

I agree with Thor, the lame energy weapons are way too slow, only somewhat effective in CQB, I mean, one of the main points of fx lasers must be the speed of light thing.. ???. Overall it’s fun tho.

Halo isn’t that bad. :-\ But I am looking forward to the team games in UT2004. Now if more people on-line would play as teams!

Yeah I’d like some more projectile weapons as well.

As for teams, the cool thing about playing here at work is that after we’ve played we spend 5-10 minutes talking about the games (“I fucked you up so bad! You got your ass creamed and handed to you in a doggy bag! Man I almost felt SAD!” – “I was on your team…”). This way we’ve sort of learned that we need to keep the vehicles replenished with energy and support the tank with rocketlaunchers when planes appear.

    It’s SO fun! :D

Agreed. The UT2004 demo kicks some serious ass on my new machine.

I’m WAY addicted… Onslaught is just about the coolest, most difficult type of gameplay ever. It seems to get easier though as you increase the bot difficulty… I imagine because the bots on YOUR team start making a difference :)

Can’t wait to play a tank Deathmatch with real people!

Once you get people into the flow of Onslaught it really kicks. People repearing the tanks and giving air support instead of selfishly thinking about their own score. That’s when it really starts to rawk! :)

Yeah, I’ve played the shit out of the demo. I think the vehicles are a bit stale compared to the ones in Halo, but then again Halo has quite excellent vehicle physics. Driving the Scorpion or Hellbender just isn’t the same as taking the Warthog from Halo out for a spin.

I’m a big fan of the Onslaught mode. I played a lot of Tribes 2 back in the day.

just for the record the big purple energy ball weapon isnt used like normal ones. you fire the big ball, then shoot it with the 2ndary fire and it explodes big time

I would still prefer projectile weapons :)

I love the secondary fire on the Avril. Oohhhh, they’re SO toast when you get that sucker.
