That’s about all that’s holding the big B together these days. My last upgrade – and I am to blame for this – went horribly wrong.
So thank you for your mails about the various subpages being broken, I am aware and I am working every free minute on fixing it. Which is also the reason I haven’t posted too much the last week. I’ll have the results of my labors online shortly, but I want everything to be juuust right.
Meanwhile, drop links to cool sites in the comments, I need new stuff…
Also. I need a new host. It’s decided.
So I’m looking for a server running Apache, preferably around 100 Megs of space, though I can do with 50-60. PHP, mySQL mandatory. I would really prefer it if it was Scandinavian, no offence to you people whose forefathers didn’t rape and pillage down the coasts of France, dragging off virgins into longboats, but it’ll just be easier to deal with.

For many of my clients I use a Canadian provider called Blacksun and their service, uptime and support is excellent. $10 a month can get you all that you listed.
It’s not Scandinavian but what the hell.
I don’t know of any Scandinavian hosts. I’m not Scandinavian.
But I do know of OC12Host and R1 Hosting. Both are cheap, offer Apache, PHP, and MySQL. I use OC12Host for my site. I’ve not personally used R1 Hosting, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it.
I’ve also used Pair.net. Their service is good, but they run FreeBSD on their servers. If you don’t like Linux, you’ll hate FreeBSD Michael. They’re a bit more expensive than some other hosts ($17.95/month for the kind of service you’re after), but are big, stable, and have been around a long time, which means they aren’t going to flake out and run off with your money, or suffer security and downtime problems (unlike some other hosts).
I use B-One, which is danish. It is awfully cheap as you can see – 0.9£/ month for 125 megs. Traffic is free.
I have experienced some downtime – but not much and only for short periods.
My hosting company (yes I actually “own” it) hasn’t had any downtime what so ever for the past 150+ days. B-One and Cliché hosting are danish hosts with cheap prices but loads of downtime. I could set you up Michael, but I’m not sure how do send you invoices and how you would pay them because the system we use in Sweden isn’t the same as in Denmark I think.
I can offer you hosting under my reseller account, just tell me what you need and I can set it up for ya :)
I use HostPhax.com who provide the server and bandwidth,v ery good support and so little downtime its unreal, and all downtime is scheduled for like switch matinence and stuff it all forewarned.
Ill try and catch you on MSN today :)
Hmm, Christoffer, your site kind-of scared me when it started playing music all of a sudden :)
just out of curiosity:
where you upgrading to wp 1.0.1?
what went wrong (besides everything)?
Anders, that’s not my company site. It’s my newly bought domain which i haven’t decided what to do with yet. You don’t like music, eh? ;-)
Btw. Host Phax has a incredibly slow site, takes forever to load it (FYI. I’m on dial-up at the moment).
Thank you for all your suggestions. I got a few by mail as well, and I’ll look all of ‘em over in a day or two. Right now I’m concentrating on finishing what I’m working on.
Martin: I was upgrading to 1.0.1. Mostly it was because I didn’t make sure to keep minor hacks of my own in a couple of files. So when I overwrote them with the new ones (or didn’t because I figured that ‘hey, no changes… right?’… wrong.)
So from now on I’m making sure to keep all my hacks in the (somewhat) new my-hacks.php file…
Anyway, more on that later on.
Fucking hell, Michael. Your new design rocks! Absolutely 100% rocks!
