Morten, while he does look a bit weird, I love how it looks like he’s wearing a uniform of some sort. Oh, and check out those engines on the X-Wings; they must be custom made ;)
Michael, the X-Wings are probably early designs. However it seems weird if the poster was made before the movie… maybe just before the special effects. Isn’t he wearing the orange rebel fighter uniform?
Morten, it may be, but I’ve never seen any prototype with first of all 5 exhausts, and then the size of them! (Look at the size of that thing! Cut the chatter red two).
It still looks like a black uniform with a red priest-like collar to me.
Incidently Tom Jung also did my favorite poster of all time, namely the style B Empire Strikes Back poster. (Notice how Luke looks? The poster in this entry was never used, so I guess he brought Luke over to the new poster :)).
Michael, look closely it looks like there are really only four like there should be. At first glance it does look like five though. And they are a bit long.
Black uniform on Luke? Naaah… the reflection on his shoulder is red/orange in the same shade as the collar. By the way the art piece at the left with Luke and Leia I’ve seen isolated quite a few times… like on my old 4 disc Star Wars Trilogy soundtrack box. :)
That is absolutely fantastic. I recently got myself a set of three posters for the original films, for Episode IV I had the one from the left-side of this monster (with Luke and his strangely Thundercats lightsaber).
It’s nice having a matching set along one wall, but what I’d give for one of these! Where did you come across it?
Michael C’mon. It’s definately an orange jumpsuit. You can see the edge of his white vest-thingy on his shoulder. I can almost see him holding his helmet under his right arm…..it looks like it’s made off of a screen capture.
Stop being a conspiracy theorist just for the sake of it. ;)
Poulsen, I don’t think that can clearly be said to be the vest; might as well be a highlight. Though that said it probably is the vest, but I still fancy thinking of it as a uniform.
I was just in a Barnes & Noble last night and I noticed this new book (it came out in October): The Star Wars Poster Book. It’s got 350 full-color posters in it. Looks pretty amazing.
You've reach the blog of Michael Heilemann. This small 'about' blurp really should have more text and a few links in it, but I can't be bothered, as I seem to break it constantly anyway. So, instead I suggest you take your pointer, move it around and see what you can click. Maybe you'll find something interesting.
Yeah… though I always hated that teenage beaver look they gave Luke.
I love the fact that they show the end of the movie right in the poster. :)

I really don’t know why, but Luke Skywalker looks like…the Highlander!

Micheal, do you know who the artist was on this particular poster?
Yeah, his name is Tom Jung; he also did the other 1977 posters.

Ah yeah, definitely my mistake; or poor perspective. Or both :)

That’s cuz it’s from the actual style A poster which was used, and it is probably the best known of all the Star Wars posters.
By the way, if you’re interested in the details of that particular poster, theforce.net has a pretty good article on it.

Regarding the ‘uniform’, it’s hard to make out what exactly it’s supposed to be. Here’s as good a closeup as I’ve been able to find:
Ben, I came across it on one of my frequent Google scrounging missions :) — I’ve seen it before though.
I think I’ll have to do a proper entry in which I talk about Star Wars posters. There’s a surprising amount of them.

Im the #1 star wars fan! Its amazing where you find your photos from. Many I have not seen.

I love Luke’s chin on that close up. Now thats nice detail, you could park a B wing fighter in that. Obi Wan has also got a ET look going on there.
Oh yeah, and Luke’s face in this poster made its way onto the Style A poster from New Hope as well.
i like the poster, i love the wallpapers. you should see my desktop…
awesome poster
