It’s slowly creeping past my bedtime, but since the last entry was flooded with comments of joy and happiness in the time it took me to sit through Red Eye (gah! boooring!), I couldn’t possibly go to bed without giving you guys and gals a WordPress 2.0 enabled K2. So here it is, in all its still-beta glory, K2 Beta One Revision 133 for WordPress 2.0.
We’ve fixed various things and tweaked the look a bit. There’ll be a lot of tweaks this week, so if you’ve got anything you want to add, make sure you pass the bug reporter on your way out. And remember, if you supply the solution at the same time, you’ll make our lives much much easier (and thank you to all the ones of you who already did!)
And just so you’re up to date, Chris is working on switching us over from script.aculo.us to moo.fx (to shave off on the overhead) as well as writing a new AJAX commenting system, which should be even better than the one we currently have, and I’ll be mainly fixing various bugs and tweaking for the next few days.
From this day forth, K2 will be WordPress 2.0 only, so if you’re still chugging along on a 1.5 installation, now is the time to consider an upgrade. Before you do however, you will of course, as usual, make sure you backup your database. Either that, or fetch the clenex and icecream, cuz chances are you’re gonna be a’ wheepin’ (things always go wrong when you have no backup; proven fact!).
PS: Make sure you digg K2 ;)
Update: I’ve fixed what seems to have been an invisible character bug in theloop.php on line 10. Just redownload, and it should work. My apologies.
Update: You should delete your previous K2 directory, when upgrading. Or at the very least delete k2options.php, or you might get into trouble. k2options.php has now become functions.php.

All the hard work is paying off. Congrats guys.
Glee! :)
Thanks for the fantastic product, as always! Can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
I’ve been looking forward to this! Now for me to just get my darn site up!
Hmm well, I got a parse error in theloop on line 10. =/
I had an extra ? in theloop.php which I removed. I don’t know if this is unique to me or not?
I’m a PHP novice and managed to fix it myself so i’m sure others can too :)
Except for that everything seems to be working nicely and looking good too. Thanks!
Same thing as Allen on a stock WP2.0, but it’s just a simple typo, remove the Ê at the start of line 10 in theloop.php and all is well.
Yeah, same error. Fixed it, though by fixing typo. Otherwise, looks great!
glee HOORAY! Thanks Michael :)
I got the same error, plz delete that ÃÅ
Good stuff :)
Michael, is this different than what i got from the SVN?
And uhm.. Woohoo! for Moo!
I also got a parse error in theloop on line 10.
Thanks, working great now !
I don’t see a “?” at the beginning of line 10. I just read:
if (!is_single() && !is_home() or is_paged()) { ?>
Any help?
wow, thanks a lot. this is one of the reason why i love wordpress.
thanks a again.

It’s not a ? it was an A with an accent for me, you need to delete the strange character at the beginning of the sentence on line 10.
[blockquote removed]

I don’t see an accented A, but I still get the parse error.
What should line 10 say, can you just give the the exact line? Thanks.
the new available has only single character in the very first in line 10.
guys, just wonder if there is a template available for this like in the kubrick?
thanks,
great update, thanks Michael.
Is the comment link in the meta messed up for anyone else? It’s normal for me now, not the cool hidden thingy like before…
and thanks for getting this out so fast Michael!
Thank you MICHAEL!!!!
hey dave, the comment thingy is not working for me either… I mean… I don’t really enjoy the teeny-tiny comment link below the categories.
plus… rate-my-stuff plugin is acting weird…
Mike,
Did you have a chance to look into the ELA button stuff I sent you ? It doesn’t seem to be in 133. :(
Shall we drop the idea or is it just postpone for later ?
i offered a mirror in my site. thanthan.com
does anybody tried this in ie? it seems that sidebar won’t work in ie
does anybody tried this in ie? it seems that sidebar won’t work in ie
The sidebar works for me in IE 6.0 but the formatting of the page leaves no room between the content and the sidebar. Everything appears fine using Firefox 1.5. I haven’t yet done any customization other than activating a few plugins.
Nice! Thank you for getting this out so quickly.. looking great.
In my text editor I did not see a “?” or “A”, but…There might be a hidden character (maybe due to my text editor: SubEthaEdit on Mac OS X) at the beginning of line 10 of the loops file. I just hit the delete button to delete anything there to correct the issue. hope this helps.
I’ve uploaded a new version of 133, which hopefully fixed the weird character issue.
Arno, no, I simply haven’t had time to look at the ELA stuff yet. My dev time is counted in sprints of 5 minutes at the moment :(
As for IE. Neither Chris, nor I have IE to test on, so it usually drags behind a bit. If you want it fixed fast, come up with a solution and submit it to us. I’ll do what I can though.
I don’t know what’s up with rate-my-stuff plugin, but I’ll see if I can figure out. And the new comment link is a work in progress.
Remember, it’s still beta.
Simply awesome… thank you for all of your hard work!
michael, i just fixed the rate-my-stuff thing, it was a css problem so nevermind :)
my website looks awfully weird on IE but who cares? firefox is a lot better.
I’m having this error:
on my website. I have the latest version of wordpress (RC3 of 2.0) and I have uploaded all files and overwrote them. Anyone have any ideas?
Woo. Got your k2 post on Digg. :). Testing your K2 update for WP 2.0 right now.
First of all, the comments section is not a support forum (this is). Secondly, RC3 is not the latest version, 2.0 final is.
For what it’s worth, try deleting your K2 directory and reuploading the new version. Looks like k2options.php and functions.php (which is the same thing) are colliding.
Thanks, I just needed to delete the k2 options file!
Thank you very much.
Michael,
Great work on K2, we’re all eagerly awating the final release!
Make sure to DIGG this article everyone!
There is a digg already.
I just thought of a tagline for K2 and put it down here before I lose it. How’s this for a catch phrase?
Again, great piece of work from Michael and Chris! I applaud you guys!
I like it :)
Is it me, or does the k2 page no longer render correctly?
I’d like to download it.. but 90% of the page is missing. :)
