We won’t be able to deliver to you a 1.0 before the new year, as I had promised. But that’s okay, because I’m pretty proud of this Beta Two to be quite honest. It has seen some significant strides lately, and by and large I consider it a very stable product.
For Beta Two, there’s a new button in the options panel, which lets you quickly and easily set the options of Arnaud’s Extended Live Archives, try it out. Also, you’ll notice the inclusion of several Fam Fam Fam Silk Icons, which I personally love.
Chris went into some of the javascript files and bled them down to the bare essentials, and I finally got around to putting the ShowUtils and HideUtils functions into their own file (k2/js/k2functions.js). You may have noticed those two functions showing up in pingbacks and trackbacks all over the place; well that was my fault, and I’m really sorry. I hope Matt and the guys do something about it in Kubrick for 2.1.
There’s lots of other stuff as well, most of which you probably won’t notice, but trust us, it’s better.
If your favorite bug remains unfixed, head on over to the bug tracker and submit or resubmit a bug report, and you can be sure we’ll check it out. As usual, many tips and tricks can be found in the support forums, where you can also share your customizations and check out other people struttin’ their stuff. Michael, just a quick note, as I’m setting up my site again, and wanted a list of plugins I need, your plugins page is fubared. The link in your “about the site” paragraph is broken as it should be /about/plugins/ I think (unless you’re restructuring) and the other link in the list, displays the correct page but the plugins used plugin is broken it seems. Just fyi as I’m confident you were aware.
On a side note, my rich text editor isn’t working in 2.0 did anyone else experience this? I hit something and then it flashes (ie strikethrough flashes the strikethrough line and then vanishes) and then it doens’t post with the correct formatting, weird.
K2 looks neat in Firebox, but it’s unacceptably ugly in IE — transparent png background is rendered opaque; text overlaps horribly; “site admin” link disappears; css goes crazy… I know it’s all IE’s fault, but how can you ignore the most popular web browser on this planet?

If you do a total page refresh (easily done with a right click on any area in the IE browser window)… you should get rid of the overlap problem. While it isn’t at its most beautiful in IE… it certainly isn’t the ugliest baby in the IE nursery.

I managed to squash most of the IE bugs with K2 the beta 2 version. It still looks great and functions the same in firefox but internet explorer is a little better off now. The sidebar and content position has been fixed, and they look alright for the fixed and the fluid style at a variety of resolutiosn. I changed the .png files into .gif and now it works the same way in IE and firefox, and the comments area has been tweaked a little for internet explorer. I tested it out on firefox 1.0.6 and internet explorer 6.0 on windows and it looks greaty on both.
Just wanted to ask you Michael, if it was ok for me post the code here. I just jumbled everything up into a zip file with some instructions that should fix most of the IE bugs.

I’ve silently upgraded to r151, in which Chris has added gzipping to the prototype and effects javascript files. Not a must have upgrade, but pretty damn cool.
I’ve silently upgraded to r153, which fixes the missing ELA loading spinner.

I’ve installed the k2 for Wp2.0 today, and i’ve been working on it a little bit to day. I have added a feature so it’s possible to upload new pictures for the standard header in the k2 theme. and from the k2 options page it’s possible to select which header picture to use. kinda cool….

Alex k2options.php was renamed to functions.php.. Delete k2options.php from the old folder to solve this issue.

Sorry I’m pretty new to all this but a friend recommended this theme! So i installed it like the others but when i switch to it i get the following error:
WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘WHERE ‘wp_user_level’ > 1’ at line 1]
SELECT COUNT FROM WHERE ‘wp_user_level’ > 1
Everything works with any other theme ive tried just k2 gives me this. Any ideas?
