You've reach the blog of Michael Heilemann. This small 'about' blurp really should have more text and a few links in it, but I can't be bothered, as I seem to break it constantly anyway. So, instead I suggest you take your pointer, move it around and see what you can click. Maybe you'll find something interesting.
For now, you can have a look at Flickr, Google Reader Shares, Last.fm, Allconsuming, del.icio.us, MobyGames, tumblr, LinkedIn or Digg
Holy smoly!
Well…THAT was great! Thanks for the hint…
Great! Looks/sounds really, really similar to Autechre stuff.. more please ;)
that’s intense
Has a certain snares/Aphex/Autechre feel to it.
The first bit is just so real, it doesn’t feel like anything special until you remember it’s all digital.
that was fantastic!
Holy shit thats amazing. It has that distinct french feel, also seen in french demo-scene productions. Gotta love that.
The sound is fantastic. Does anybody know what it is? Or do you think it was produced specially for this film?
wow that video is gorgeous!!! I love it :D
oh my, reminded me of (the underrated) Animatrix; “Matriculated“. Where do you start with this stuff, its so many galaxies away from anything I understand as far as animation, really eye-opening stuff, thank goodness for the French.
why can’t i ‘download’ it, no clicky box :(
Callum, you’re right, for some reason you can’t download it. With Quicktime Pro you can usually save the source, but not there.
The video is amazing, reminds me of Chris Cunningham’s work.
It’s incredible! It’s fantastic!
I can’t remember I have seen something this good/sad – I could cry :)
The first animated drama.
—> Callum & Eli: You CAN actually save the movie clip. you just have to temporarly change in the source-code:
“[…] param name=“KIOSKMODE” VALUE=“true” […]”
to
“[…] param name=“KIOSKMODE” VALUE=”false“ […]”
AND
here.
Ok, WP ate my comment: to get the file (movie-clip) down to disk – even when it’s presented in «Kiosk» mode I wrote a little how-to and did a screenshot where/what to edit. To check it out go to my journal (if WP eat my link again: click on my name to get transported over to my location) http://www.bureaublumenberg.net/journal/2006/02/11/how-to-get-the-file-down/
Gorgeous, surreal and dream like…God that was amazing. The french do some really amazing animation shorts, check out this paris based studio called Pleix (pleix.net), it’s got some awesome stuff too.
Dunno if Mac comes with wget, but you could just call
wget http://www.beam.tv/beamreels/play_clip.php?reel_file=wKWdtCShjv&action=open
from a command line to spool it to disk. Don’t need quicktime pro to save it, wget is free.
Thanks Yoram!
Nice design you have there!
WOW, now thats far beyond anything i could do, Nice redenering!
Yoram, thanks!
Michael, thanks for pointing this out. At first, I didn’t know what to make of it. But then realized that it’s all computer. Stellar!
Wow, that’s kinda cool!
That was intense! Digital art that pierces and brings out emotions.
wow, that was great! :D
although in the beginning i sort of got the feeling that it was going to be like Rubber Johnny, i was expecting to get a shock and choke on my breakfast. :P
and thanks for the tips on how to save from QT kiosk mode – great stuff!
Yes it is a mastery, and the music is also good.
It’s wonderful, it’s fantastic, it… resizes my window? Hell no.
Don’t know if anyone else has noticed but there is another (quite different, but equally good) video they’ve made for Ninja Tune hidden on the contact page of their site – http://www.90degrees.fr/
click ‘love 2 love’ at the bottom right….doesn’t stream and takes a while to load, but it’s worth it.
