Bjørn, who in the name of full disclosure works at Rare, a game developer owned by Microsoft, sent me the following mail, which I hope you take the time to read through.
Now since Bjørn and his team are bound to end up walking to Rome (read through), at least make it worth their while by helping them out either economically or by dropping a quick link to this entry whereever you can; I’ll owe you.
Three friends and myself are participating in Home2Rome event at the end of October. The basic idea is that you have to drive a car, valued less than £100, from Calais to Rome while completing various stage events. The winner takes home £1000, everyone else takes home 4 days of good, polluting family entertainment.

Time must be speeding up, I don’t know why I would otherwise feel so damn pressed for time constantly.
Regardlessly I feel compelled to quickly comment on Microsoft’s X06 event, which unveiled a whole bunch of very interesting 360 stuff coming up (including the first official trailer of Kane and Lynch: Dead Men, get it from Xbox Live Marketplace).

“My idea with Hellboy 2 is that it’s almost a rephrasing. You don’t re-enact the franchise you reinvent it. My favorite movies are like Evil Dead 2 which is basically reinventing Evil Dead 1, so I would hope Hellboy 2 could be taking what I learned from Hellboy 1 and reinventing it.” #
Which reads like this: “Hellboy 1 sucked, sorry. Hellboy 2 will hopefully be better.” Yeah, well I damn sure hope so. Here I am, having trouble getting Rikke to read Hellboy because of what Mr. Toro did to the franchise with his bastard-child movie. And yes, I do also blame Mignola for not putting his foot down stylistically.

To understand Dead Man’s Chest, I suppose we need to go back over Pirates 1 ground a little bit. We last talked during The Last Samurai, which gives you the reason why I didn’t have the credit on the first one. I absolutely promised both Tom Cruise and Ed Zwick that I wasn’t going to moonlight on anything else, and when I made the promise, I really, really believed it! But then Gore got into a little bit of trouble and I said to him, ‘I can’t score this movie, there’s no way I can, but my friend Klaus [Badelt] probably can.’ Klaus is a wonderful composer, but I couldn’t help myself from writing many of the tunes, and then I sort of orchestrated the way those tunes would sound as well, setting the tone. Klaus wrote some more tunes and with our tunes wrote the score, and Blake Neely, Geoff Zanelli, and everyone else went at it. #
Time well spent, seeing as how Last Samurai was pretty naff.

Apple Computer has slapped Podcast Ready with a “cease and desist” letter, claiming that the terms “Podcast Ready” and “myPodder” infringe Apple’s trademarks, and that they cause confusion among consumers. #
Fuck. You. Apple. Fuck you up your ass.
Update: Some more info.
Update: A good rundown. Trademarking ‘podcast ready’?… ASSholes (Thanks Ze-in-my-head).

So, MTV bought Guitarhero excellent, now not only is MTV again related to music (cuz damn if that station hasn’t been flushed down the toilet over the last 10 years), but Guitarhero 2 is also coming to Xbox 360… Right?… Right?!
Cuz I’ll be damned if I’m pouring money into Sony’s sinkhole of a console.
